Course Overview

Welcome to the session entitled Quantitative methods. This session is organized around the following themes:

Pedagogical approaches

The sequences are organized around videos and playful demonstrations of how to use R code to answer questions that couldn’t be easily answered with traditional tools. To do this, you’ll use our technology platform, without having to install anything.

Teaching objectives

The main objective of this session is to explain the importance for the 21st century manager of developing a sufficient level of literacy on data science. Data science is the combination of traditional quantitative methods, algorithms and disciplinary knowledge, in this case international business.

It’s not just about understanding and using quantitative methods to analyze data, it’s also about understanding that data is becoming the new DNA of businesses, of our societies, and of new business models.

In terms of simulation, you’ll be put in a situation that’s the WHO’s with Covid-19, and you’ll be using a data package that’s updated every day and collects all the scientific publications on coronaviruses on the planet:

Program

Class 1: The data revolution [here]

An introduction to the powerful Data Revolution. In this sequence, we’ll discuss the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and its impact on the digital transformation of businesses and our societies.

Class 2: Data science [here]

The main interests are to study the evolution of statistics and to define data science.

Class 3: Data science and research [here]

The main aim of this sequence is to look at research based on data science. In particular, you’ll be using a data package that’s growing every day and collects all the scientific work on the planet about coronaviruses, see the publication here:

Community values and honor code

In this course, you will have access to some of the tools we use within our data science platform in our lab http://lab.nuance-r.com. Use of these tools requires adherence to our code of honor.

Community values

Fostering a supportive online learning environment is essential.

In our lab, we believe it’s essential that all participants embody and uphold our community values in order to foster a supportive e-learning environment where individuals can have open discussion, reflect on their thinking and learn from each other.

Our laboratory’s code of honor

A code of honor and respect.

Our Code of Honor complements the Community Values Statement and reflects the commitment of participants as members of the learning community to participate in, foster and maintain our laboratory learning model.

That’s it!
